Yesterday the students of the Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB) started their Ecodiver-training. The first photos of corals were taken and they started to learn the identification. All students are doing very well so far! In the morning, the theory is worked out together and applied directly during the day. Today the first exercises for setting up the reefcheck transect will be worked out and some different fish species will be explained.
A few-funny-fish-fact: The humphead wrasse changes sex throughout its lifetime.
Another great idea that came up during today's seminar: Integrating people whose hearing or speech is restricted ➝ Underwater it is the easiest way to communicating with hand signals. Maybe one of you has already had experience with it, we would be curious to hear about it.
