About the event

With this webinar we aim to reach divers, underwater enthusiasts and early career biology students and researchers. We will cover a broad spectrum of topics related to coral reefs, sustainable fishing and marine conservation. You don't need to be a scientist to join but we rather want to bring science to the public. The first sessions will be presented by our Marine Biologist, Dr. Mareike Huhn, but we highly encourage participants with a biology, conservation or oceanography background to become presenters, too. We will reward you with a certificate for your repeated attendance or active involvement (e.g. as presenter).

In this third session, we explain what coral bleaching is and how corals produce fluorescent proteins that make them look bright and colorful, protect them from harmful UV light and help them recover. We will dive a little bit into the world of fluorescent colors in the sea.

The webinar will be held via Zoom. Register to receive the login details.
